Our community

Supporting the local community is very important for the Estate. The Estate provides homes, job opportunities and public access for those in the area. Everyone who is involved builds on Hampton’s story – it is an Estate embedded within its local community.

50 years ago there were over 30 employees directly working on the farm. Today that number has dropped to 11 full time employees, however our commercial offices and craft centre supports a working population upwards of 70 people. Approximately 100 people live in Hampton properties, providing homes whilst also contributing to the local community and economy.

Public access is something close to Hampton’s heart. The Estate has opened up over 600 acres of land for everyone’s enjoyment, creating small car parks for access. There are dedicated walking routes, with the North Downs Way passing through the Estate, providing stunning views and walks for every ability.

The Estate is privileged to support a wide range of local and national charities throughout the year. We regularly host Scout activities, community marathons, Surrey Search and Rescue training and local events such as the annual village Christmas fair. We are dedicated to sharing our understanding of farming with as many people as possible, educating young people in the countryside. Two forest schools are based in woodland on the Estate, and we host an annual Open Farm Sunday as well as regular school visits on behalf of the Country Trust.
